Test Out Early Chrome Features With Canary on Android

...

When new ideas for Google's Chrome are just getting started—full of promise but also full of bugs—they get dropped in the Canary channel, or the "most bleeding-edge version of Chrome possible."

Previously limited to Windows and Mac, Canary is now available on Android via Google Play. Keep in mind, though, that the experimental app has not been tested, and may fail to run sometimes. Google recommends it "for developers and advanced users only."

New versions are built from the most recent code, and often contain new features, enhancements, and bug fixes. These builds, however, are shipped daily without manual testing, "which means [they] can be unstable and may even stop working entirely for days," Alex Mineer, Google APK administrator and bug basher, wrote in a blog post.

"However, the goal is for Canary to remain usable at all times, and the Chrome team prioritizes fixing major issues as quickly as possible," he added.

Because builds automatically dispatch every weekday (maybe on weekends in the future), users can also expect elevated data consumption—typically more than 100MB per week.

Canary aims to help make Chrome for Android a better browser, so folks are encouraged to report any bugs they find. Click "Help & Feedback" in the app menu to disclose glitches and errors.
