Desktop Apps Ported to Universal Apps Arrive in Windows Store

...

The first desktop apps that developers have ported over to the Universal Windows Platform are now available in the Windows Store.

Apps like Evernote, Arduino IDE, doubleTwist, PhotoScape, Magix Movie Edit Pro, Virtual Robotics Kit, Relab, SQL Pro, Voya Media, Predicted Desire, and korAccount are rolling out now to those running the Windows 10 Anniversary Update.

The apps were ported using Desktop Bridge, a program announced at Build 2016 that lets developers modify their apps so they run on all Windows 10 devices, including smartphones, tablets, game consoles, and headsets like the HoloLens.

Developers first got their hands on the Desktop App Converter when the Windows 10 Anniversary Update rolled out this summer. Today, Redmond also added the Desktop App Converter to the Windows Store, which will be updated with bugs fixes and new features as any other app might be.

Those with the most recent version of Windows 10 can find these newly ported apps in a special Desktop Bridge section in the Windows Store.
