Apple Launches Animated Stickers for iOS 10

...

Not to be outdone by Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, and Kim Kardashian, Apple has released its first animated sticker packs for iOS 10 Messages.

As spotted by the Mac Otakara blog, the Smileys, Hearts, Hands, and Classic Mac emoji apps are available to download—if you're a developer with the iOS 10 beta.

As AppleInsider notes, some of the smartphone-ready stickers may look familiar to Apple Watch wearers; Smileys, Hearts, and Hands are being rolled over from the watchOS platform. The Classic Mac pack, meanwhile, features original Macintosh icons—pixelated black-and-white drawings of a computer, trash can, watch, paint bucket, etc.—designed by Susan Kare.

Apple also tips a vintage Disney-themed pack, featuring Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Daisy striking various poses.

Housed in the Messages app drawer, the stickers are integrated into a conversation just as you would any emoji. Users, however, can also "peel and place" them into chat bubbles and on images, or even double them up with other stickers.

As Apple outlined at WWDC, stickers are part of a Messages overhaul set for iOS 10. Cupertino is adding the ability to send "invisible" messages and handwritten notes, as well as rich links for viewing videos and photos directly in the app and emoji suggestions. Users will also find a redesigned lock screen; open-source Siri; redesigned Photos, Music, and Maps apps; a new Home app for better automation; and the option to remove many of Cupertino's built-in applications.

Apple is expected to launch an iOS 10 public beta this summer before a formal launch this fall.

Every Time You Check to See if Your OnePlus 3 Has an Update, You Expose Your IMEI

According to users on reddit and the OnePlus forums, every time an owner of a OnePlus 3 checks to see if they have an update via the Settings menu, their IMEI is sent to the OnePlus servers in plain HTTP and not HTTPS.Because of this, OnePlus 3 owners on an unsecured network (a coffee shop with public WiFi access point, for example), potentially expose their device’s specific IMEI number to would-be evil doers.
