The latest update for Pebble smartwatch wearers expands iOS Text Reply to Verizon customers, upgrades Pebble Health's sleep tracking, and introduces new customization options, among other perks.
The long-awaited Text Reply is available now to U.S.-based Verizon customers with a Pebble smartwatch; folks can respond with a voice note (Time-series watches only), emoji, or custom text message.
Pebble rolled out a beta version of Text Reply in November for AT&T users, making Pebble Time "the first non-Apple smartwatch to bring voice and text replies to our iPhone users," the company said at the time. Now, "Pebblers in the U.S. with a Verizon contract can use iOS Text Reply from any Pebble smartwatch," Community Manager Joseph Kristoffer wrote in a blog post.
"With Verizon and AT&T on board as compatible carriers for iOS Text Reply, actionable message capabilities for Pebble users on iPhone continues to expand," he said, adding that more carriers and services are in the works.
Update 3.11, meanwhile, also adds new vibration options (Menu > Settings > Vibrations), better overall sleep-tracking accuracy (with support for daytime naps longer than one hour), and the ability to snooze incoming Timeline reminders. Pebble also renamed its Phone and Android apps to "Pebble" (no more "Time") to clarify that the apps support all Pebble smartwatches.
Legacy apps will also receive a final update, and the new "Pebble OLD VERSION" branding; these only support Pebble Classic and Pebble Steel running firmwares below version 3.0.
