Setting the mood for a romantic evening for you and your significant other (or a tub of popcorn and Netflix) just got a lot easier. Lutron Electronics has integrated its Caséta Wireless lighting system with Amazon Alexa.
Homeowners with an Amazon Echo, Echo Dot, Amazon Tap, or Amazon Fire TV can now control Caséta using their voice.
"Asking Alexa to control your lights is undeniably powerful and can simplify things like coming home with arms full of kids, pets and groceries," Matt Swatsky, Lutron director of product management, said in a statement.
And when the kids are sleeping or you're in the middle of a phone call, grab the Lutron Pico remote control or use the Lutron mobile app to adjust the lighting.
"For some people, this technology restores the freedoms once taken for granted—like freely moving about to alter the lights," Swatsky said. "Smart home products are not just about the wow factor anymore—they're about changing people's lives."
Amazon last month introduced the new hands-free, voice-controlled Echo Dot and its more portable sibling, the Tap. Each use the Alexa Voice Service (when connected to Wi-Fi or a mobile hotspot) to read news, provide weather reports, play music, order dinner, and request an Uber.
