Refer Your Friends and Family to Samsung Pay, Get $5

...

Samsung is kicking off the High Five Referral Program for Samsung Pay this week, granting users the ability to refer friends and family to the service. A referral that is followed by a qualifying purchase will result in the referrer getting $5 automatically injected into their Samsung Pay account. The max number of referrals a user can give out is 30, making the earnings potential a solid $150.

To spend this money, you will need to be at a location that accepts both Visa and Samsung Pay, as the money is technically associated with the Samsung Pay Rewards card. To use the funds, make sure the Rewards card is the one being used for the transaction.

As for what defines a 1st-time “qualifying” purchase by the referred user, Samsung did not release that information. If anything, it’s probably a nice round number like anything over $5 or $10.

None of my banks use Samsung Pay, so I guess I won’t be referring anyone too soon. Bummer. However, if you have Samsung Pay, and know people who are open to using it, nothing beats free money.

Get Ready for 14nm and 16nm Chips

But if the chip-manufacturing companies are a little later than I would have expected for 20nm, they are planning to shift quickly to the next node, the 14nm and 16nm chips. It won't surprise me if we see very few 20nm chips, and instead see a lot of designs skip that generation and go directly from the 28nm processes standard on most leading-edge chips today to the 14 or 16nm generation.
