Samsung Galaxy Note 7: Don't Try to Fix it Yourself

...

Samsung's Galaxy Note 7 phablet arrives in stores today, but the teardown experts at iFixit have already taken a peek inside.

They found a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor and NFC controller among a chipset that is "nearly identical" to the one found in the earlier Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge smartphones.

Consumers can pick up the latest Samsung device from AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, US Cellular, and Verizon, as well as Samsung.com, Samsung Experience Shops at Best Buy, BestBuy.com, Amazon, Car Toys, Sam's Club, Target, and select Walmart stores. Just don't try to make any DIY adjustments: According to iFixit, the phone's front and back glass are fragile and not easily replaced, and the battery is held down by tough adhesive and a glued-on rear panel, earning the device a measly four-out-of-10 repairability score.

In terms of overall experience, however, PCMag's Ajay Kumar rated it an "excellent" 4.5 stars. The curved 5.7-inch handset debuted on Aug. 2, following months of product leaks correctly tipping a 1,440-by-2,560 screen resolution, 12-megapixel rear camera and 5-megapixel front shooter, 64GB of onboard storage, 4GB of RAM, a 3,500mAh battery, and USB-C port.

The S7 Note also features iris and fingerprint scanners, a headphone jack, and a modified S Pen. In an effort to avoid confusion, the updated stylus does not fit into its slot backwards. It does, however, come with interchangeable tips: one soft for writing on smooth glass, and one hard for using with a screen protector.
