T-Mobile Adds 16 More Streaming Services to Binge On

...

Heads up, T-Mobile customers: The Binge On perk is getting even better.

T-Mobile on Tuesday expanded Binge On, which lets you stream video on your mobile device from certain services without it eating into any of your data, to 16 additional video-treaming sources. The expansion includes ABC, Apple Music, Big Ten Network, Dish Anywhere, several Disney services (Disney Channel, Disney Jr, and Disney XD), Fox Now, FXNow, and Nat Geo TV, along with some lesser-known services, like Ceek VR, the sign language channel D-PAN.TV, DramaFever, Shalom World, Sioeye, and Tubi TV.

With this latest expansion, Binge On now covers more than 100 video services "ranging from anime and sports to gaming and VR," T-Mobile said.

T-Mobile has regularly expanded Binge On since it launched eight months ago, and uses it as a weapon in the propaganda war it wages with rival US carriers Verizon, AT&T, and Sprint. Case in point: "I've said it before and I'll say it again — it's all about listening to your customers and doing what they want! So glad Dumb and Dumber keep getting it wrong," T-Mobile CEO John Legere said in a statement.

In its announcement today, T-Mobile said that customers have streamed 765 million hours of video on Binge On services to date.

Binge On might be extremely popular with customers, but critics, including the Electronic Frontier Foundation, claim it's a threat to net neutrality. The EFF published a report in January that criticized T-Mobile for throttling HTML5 video streams to around 1.5Mbps, even when a phone is capable of downloading at higher speeds.
