One thing's for sure: Whether or not Donald Trump wins the US presidential election this year, Pokémon players will have a constant reminder of the entrepreneur.
Introduced at this week's E3 conference, the new mongoose-like character Yungoos—part of the upcoming Sun and Moon editions—has the Internet in a doppleganger frenzy.
Standing a stout 1-foot-4-inches and weighing in at 13.2 pounds, Yungoos bears a clear physical resemblance—if not a similar personality—to the Republican nominee.
"A big eater that is never satisfied," the Yungoos has strong fangs and a penchant for stalking its prey. It also boasts the Stakeout ability, which "can deal twice the normal damage to any Pokémon that switch in or enter the field mid-battle." Not unlike the wounds The Donald inflicts on fellow candidates.
Not everyone sees the Tump-Yungoos parallel, though: At least one social media user likened the character to former London Mayor Boris Johnson.
This week's E3 event was chock full of Pokémon announcements, including the revelation that the Pokémon GO Plus wearable should be available by the end of July for $34.99.
Nintendo's Creative Fellow Shigeru Miyamoto let the cat—er, Pokémon—out of the bag during an E3 Q&A panel, which also tipped an imminent release of the accompanying mobile game, Pokémon GO, currently in beta testing in the US, Australia, New Zealand, and Japan.
Gamers are encouraged to get off the couch and go outside—exploring their neighborhood, community, and beyond—to catch wild Pokémon with friends and other players.
Unveiled in September, the real-world adventure game from Niantic, in collaboration with The Pokémon Company, is coming soon to iOS and Android.
