Yahoo Mail for iOS and Android now come with added sharing and sync features.
"We know how important it is for you to be able to navigate your contacts effectively and share compelling emails with your friends, family, and coworkers," Josh Jacobson, director of product management, wrote in a blog post.
Read a fascinating article or find a delicious recipe on your iPhone or iPad? Yahoo Mail now automatically converts the link into a visual card, providing recipients a peek at the website before opening it. The enhanced preview can also be shared directly from your inbox to social media sites.
And when sending images or videos from the iOS Photos app or text from your notes, click the share button and choose the Yahoo Mail app icon to launch a new email message.
Jazz up your messages on iOS with Yahoo's expanded Paperless Post integration: Just tap the plus icon, select the stationary option, and choose from dozens of designs, including thank you and happy birthday themes. These new features, as well as the ability to rename accounts and mailboxes, are available now in the Yahoo Mail app for iOS 4.4 and above.
Android updates, meanwhile, focus on people, starting with a complete directory. Visit the People Smart View in the sidebar and click "see all contacts" for an editable list of all people with whom you've communicated.
"And of course, you can still find someone you've emailed through search and view their details by tapping their picture (or initials) in your inbox," Jacobson said.
Based on high user demand, Yahoo also added the option to sync Yahoo Address Book contacts and those saved to your Android device. Activate the feature in the phone's sync settings.
Meanwhile, if you want to check out new features before they're released, folks running the latest version of Yahoo Mail on Android 5.5 Lollipop+ are invited to opt into an open beta.
