Former Cree VP of Worldwide Sales Joins Wireless Environment’s Board of Directors

Mark McClear, a semiconductor and LED industry veteran, has joined Wireless Environment’s board of directors in 4Q 2015.

“We have been after Mark McClear to join our board for years,” Wireless Environment President David Levine says. “His experience in both the technical and marketing sides of the industry make him a valuable leader in the lighting space. Mark provides Wireless Environment with guidance on reaching the next level of growth through licensing our large patent portfolio in the field of providing effective off-grid lighting.”

McClear brings nearly 30 years of experience from LED lighting leader Cree, Inc.; global chemical company The Dow Chemical Company; industrial gas company Praxair; and electronics and semiconductors company Texas Instruments. In August 2015, McClear was appointed chief operating officer at thermal management technology company Phononic.

McClear has 18 issued and published patents in electronics, LED and solid state lighting.

About Wireless Environment: In their quest to develop a convenient, affordable, wireless closet light, Wireless Environment founders David Levine and Mike Recker quickly established a vision that took lighting completely off grid using battery-powered lights. Ten years, 22 issued patents, two years on the Inc. 5000 list and one Crain’s Business 52 Fastest-Growing Companies award later, the Ohio-based company has become a leader in lighting technology that provides light without relying on electrical power.
